Your tired old pillow needed a redesign, so we took up the challenge. Using computer aided design we build prototypes, tested them on real sleepers (with real problems), and then collected feedback. Cleaning the Cozy Curvy Pillowcase
Our 100% Egyptian Cotton envelope style pillowcase is machine washable. Use hot water (140 F and above) to kill germs and allergens. Always use a pillowcase and wash it often.
FYI – Our envelope style pillowcase measures: 55*85+15 cm before washing. It is designed to shrink a little. Cozy Curvy is also designed to fit most Queen and King size pillowcases. We recommend the envelope style pillow cases because they are less prone to slipping off.
Cleaning the Cozy Curvy Cover
Our cover is made from naturally breathable Tencel fabric. It does not need to be cleaned as often because you are cleaning the pillowcase. To clean the cover, unzip and remove the solid memory foam core. Hand-wash or machine wash using the gentle cycle. Use cold water with a gentle detergent. Drip drying is preferable to machine drying (low temperature).
Putting the cover back on is a bit of a puzzle. Because one side of the foam core is higher, the cover must be orientated correctly. Make sure you orient the wider/higher fabric side to the wider/higher side of the foam core.
Cleaning the Foam Core
Never Machine Wash or Machine Dry the Foam Core! Think of Cozy Curvy’s solid foam core as a mattress. You don’t wash the mattress on your bed, you wash the sheets… That said, the core can be cleaned if you carefully follow these instructions.
Cozy Curvy’s premium solid memory foam core is naturally hypoallergenic, resistant to bacterial growth and dust mites. But it may need cleaning once a year or after spills.
To clean the viscoelastic memory foam core, unzip and remove the outer protective cover. Sprinkle the foam with baking soda, covering it well. Allow the baking soda to sit for at least an hour and then vacuum it away using the upholstery brush attachment on your vacuum or a hand-held vac. Flip the pillow over and repeat. This will remove any dust and leave your pillow smelling fresh.
To remove stains from the foam, mix a small amount of a gentle detergent like one used for hand washing silk or wool in a bowl of lukewarm water. Dip a clean white cloth into the detergent solution and gently rub from the outside of the stain toward the center. Keep moving to a clean area of the cloth as the stain is transferred. Once the stain is gone, dip a clean white cloth in plain water and blot to remove any remaining soap.
Allow the memory foam to air dry completely. To speed the drying process, use a hair dryer set on cool or a fan to dry the area.
If your memory foam needs a deep cleaning; fill a large sink or bathtub with lukewarm water and a small amount of the gentle detergent. Completely submerge the pillow and squeeze gently to move the cleaning solution through the foam. [NEVER place a foam pillow in a washer, even one with no center agitator. The movement – especially the final spin – is too harsh and can damage and weaken foam.] Rinse the pillow several times until the water runs clear. Gently squeeze to remove the water – no wringing!
Allow the pillow to air dry on a flat, ventilated surface. Do not place foam in a dryer because the high heat can cause damage. To speed drying, use a portable fan. Depending on the relative humidity, it can take up to 24 hours for the foam to dry completely.
Like fresh sheets, you will sleep better on a clean Cozy Curvy 🙂
